The month of January has been one of the best ever months on this site for visitors. Let me outline some of the details, not so much for self congratulation, but to show you the value of knowing what is going on…

1. We had 1346 unique visitors, who visited 5224 times with an avreage of 3.88 visits each. They visited 15834 pages. The daily average of site visitors was 168 per day.

2. The following search engine robots visited this site last month. Google - 5069 times, Inktomi Slurp - 2875, MSNbot - 2144 times. Three unknown robots visited around 2000 times combined. WISEnut- 171, Ask Jeeves - 18, Alexa- 9.

Why is this important? Your site has to be content ridden or you don’t get the big three engines spending much time looking at you. As a site that updates content almost daily, engines love my site. Make sure they love yours too.

3. I had 453 referrals from search engines last month. Google sent me 229, MSN sent me 107 and Yahoo sent me 101. I do not buy clicks or traffic from anyone to this site. Confirms my suspicion that Google is the more significant engine. Also confirms that tghe new MSN search tool needs to be considered in your engine building strategy.

4. The keywords that people are searching for when they click the link to come to my site. Some of these blow my mind, but nevertheless, they show up in Google or another engine and then they click to get here… these terms are pretty important to know for you as well on your site. While in my instance they show trends, in your you can know if engines are coming to your site for the reasons you think. So here are mine in order of highest to lowest requests….
